If there was ever a frosting created to spread on top of a brownie...this might be it!
Luscious dulce de leche gives the Swiss meringue buttercream that sweet caramel taste while not being overly sweet...simply perfection!!
I love playing around with buttercream flavors and this may well be our new favorite. There are so many ways you could use this frosting because it pairs so well with other flavors, so experiment and see what you come up with...how would you use dulce de leche Swiss meringue buttercream?

6large egg whites, room temperature
1cupgranulated sugar
4sticks unsalted butter, softened but still cool, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
⅓cupdulce de leche
Gather Ingredients . . .

Heat Egg Whites . . .

In a large metal mixing bowl combine 1 cup of sugar and 6 room temperature egg whites, place over simmering water.
Whisk constantly until the sugar melts and the mixture is very thin and warm about 10 minutes.
Whisk Egg Whites . . .

Remove bowl from heat and transfer to an electric mixer bowl and whisk on high speed until stiff peaks form about 5 minutes.
Reduce speed to low and continue to beat until cool, about 15 more minutes.
Add Remaining Ingredients . . .

Cut 4 sticks of soft but cool butter into 1/2 inch pieces, beat into egg whites at low speed.
The mixture may curdle before coming together.

Slowly whip in 1/3 cup of dulce de leche until well blended.
